Follow the Plants
Follow the Plants traces plants such as amaranth, breadfruit, rye and oil palm through their ecological, historical, political and visual lives, from the ancient world to the Anthropocene. Editors Madeleine Collie and Yvonne Billimore treat plants as agents and companions rather than subjects. The book is built for collective research, with artworks, dialogues, roundtables, essays and scores that work as both examples and prompts.
More than thirty contributors include Zheng Bo, Åsa Sonjasdotter, Keg de Souza, Banu Subramaniam, Annalee Davis and Jorge Menna Barreto. Co-published by Onomatopee and Discipline and designed by Zenobia Ahmed, the 352-page paperback is printed in Tallinn on Munken Polar Rough and Constellation Snow, with 38 color, 52 duotone and 9 black-and-white images.
