I Am the Mountain

I Am the Mountain is narrated by the mountain itself, inviting readers to experience a single landscape across all four seasons through each of the senses in turn. Winter is for the hands, digging in snow; spring for the nose, breathing in rain and mud; summer for the ears, tracking birdsong and thunder; autumn for the tongue, biting into apples and mushrooms. The conceit is simple and the execution is patient, with the mountain as a steady, unhurried presence throughout.

Steven Weinberg, whose previous work has received the Caldecott Honor, combines his watercolor painting with his own text here.
