Photo No-Nos: Meditations on What Not to Photograph

Photographer and educator Jason Fulford edited this collection of short essays and images around a single question: what do photographers choose not to photograph, and why? The contributors, who include Taryn Simon, Alec Soth, Paul Graham, Tina Barney, Larry Sultan, and roughly sixty others, respond in formats ranging from brief anecdote to manifesto to list, covering everything from ethical refusals and technical limitations to superstition and creative habit. The result is an oblique portrait of how photographers think about the frame and what lies outside it.
