Racquet Magazine Issue 29

Issue 29 of Racquet features Rafael Nadal on the cover, with documentarian Zach Heinzerling discussing the making of his four-part docuseries RAFA, nominated for a Sports Emmy. The issue follows Vicky Mboko and Hailey Baptiste as they rehab injured knees, photographs rising Czech player Jakub Mensik in the desert, and finds Mary Carillo between her induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame and the Olympic opening ceremonies. It also covers Gabriel Diallo’s emergence as Canada’s next big tennis talent and Leylah Fernandez’s breakthrough, alongside Wendy Laird on Patrick Mouratoglou, a three-part Canadian Club section on Mboko, Diallo, and Fernandez, and features on Baptiste, Mensik, and more.

Racquet is a quarterly magazine about the art, ideas, style, and culture surrounding tennis. It draws on the swagger of the sport’s 1970s and ’80s boom while working with writers, artists, and photographers to examine the modern game. For issue 29, Spanish artist Goldn Arts pays homage to Nadal and former Interview magazine illustrator Richard Bernstein with the cover.
