Wires Crossed

Ed Templeton has photographed on film alongside a career in professional skateboarding and as founder of Toy Machine. Wires Crossed gathers work from three decades, moving between skate culture, his domestic life in Southern California, suburbia, and the people and places he encounters while traveling.

The photographs form a diaristic sequence rather than a survey divided by subject. Domestic scenes sit beside images of bodies, drugs, violence, and public spectacle, placing Templeton’s skating and photographic lives in the same frame.
