Maps on Vinyl

Maps on Vinyl is an atlas by cartographer Damien Saunder that collects over 400 album covers featuring maps in their artwork. Spanning different music genres and decades, the collection includes covers from artists such as Queen, Madonna, and Bob Marley, examining how maps function in cover design to reinforce lyrical stories, express political views, or establish the geography of the music or the band.

The volume serves as a resource for fans of music, records, and design, organizing the collection to showcase the variety of map styles used on album covers from sketches to street grids. This compilation documents the intersection of music, art, and cartography, providing insight into visual communication in record packaging. Proceeds from the book are donated to Support Act, an Australian music charity helping musicians and their crew.
