The Metrograph: Issue 2

This is the second volume of the print publication produced by the Metrograph theater in New York City. The issue focuses on longform film discourse, original essays, and interviews with figures in art and cinema. This edition features original cover artwork by painter Louise Giovanelli. The publication is designed as a collected artifact for movie enthusiasts, blending critical rigor with engaging visual content over 160 pages.   

The content centerpiece is a spotlight on New York underground icon Paul Morrissey, which includes photographs and letters from his personal archive. The volume features career-spanning interviews with filmmakers Christian Petzold and Elaine May. The issue also contains essays and contributions from Tacita Dean, Vladimir Nabokov, and Whit Stillman. Additional sections cover special effects makeup and monster mask design, a tribute to critic Gary Indiana, and a film location map of Belgrade, Serbia.
